Award winning wedding designer Julie Murphy started in the industry back home in Australia in 1997, and spent 4 years honing her skills at the renowned Sydney Opera house before returning to the US in 2004. Accepting an offer to design a major sports figure celebrity wedding in the Bahamas led her to return to the USA where she set up her wedding and party designing business in Las Vegas. She was contracted by the Academy of Country Music association to head up their design team for the magical "afterparties" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 2005-2006-2007, and again in May 2008.
Nashville has become Julie's permanent home, and planning and designing weddings at some of the Nashville landmarks has quickly followed her move here in 2007. Among the venues, the famed Hermitage hotel, Cheekwood Museum of Art and Belle Meade Plantation. Julie also offers brides having destination weddings nationwide, the opportunity to work with her firsthand.
As one of the few wedding planners who own their own couture linen and decor, Julie feels her brides are well advantaged in the knowledge that their wedding will be truly unique and personally designed, by not having to rent the reception decor from a public linen provider. We design and make our own couture linens and keep our vendor circle very close, only working with well established professionals that we know on the day, will make everybody's life so much easier by being in great sync.
Corporate Events and Galas The FRIST art museum gala dinner for 2008 We were thrilled to be invited to design the chaircover decor for this wonderful annual fundraiser. White velvet ruched chairtoppers were designed to compliment the heavy glass tables that truly made the room look spectacular. Joe Smith, of Ilex-Nashville, Julie's favorite florist in the entire world [and indeed an institution in Nashville] wove his magic for the floral displays in this stunning room.THE ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS Julie has designed the Afterparties for the Academy for the past 5 years in Las Vegas at the famed MGM Grand hotel...Julie, It was over the top! I am speechless. The entire day was perfect. Every detail was perfect. You did a fabulous job. Everyone could not believe how absolutely elegant the ballroom was. I pray it was not a stressful time for you and your staff, and we hope you know it was a blessing to all who attended April and Eric's wedding.
